Cody Steinmetz

President & Chief Executive Officer

On January 1st, 2024, Cody became President & CEO of Anvil Corporation. Before taking over this position, Cody worked as the COO in 2021 and served as Anvil’s Billings Branch Manager for 10 years.

Cody brings over 20 years of engineering and management experience working in the Oil & Gas, Industrial, and Manufacturing industries. Before joining Anvil as a Project Manager, Cody spent 14 years working for Cargill Incorporated in various roles, including Refinery Supervisor, Plant Engineer/Maintenance Supervisor, Maintenance & Engineering Manager, and Business Unit Reliability Leader.

Cody holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Montana State University.

Dan Lewis

Chief Financial Officer

As CFO, Dan is responsible for all of Anvil’s reporting, accounting, planning, financial analysis, treasury, and human resource services. He also manages the Accounting and Business Services groups and ensures that our employees understand the financial, retirement, and medical benefits available to them through Anvil.

Dan joined Anvil in 2008 as Controller where he oversaw accounts and reporting systems, prepared forecasts and budgets, and ensured client contracts were set up correctly and terms were followed. He was promoted to Chief Financial Officer in 2020.

He brings over 20 years of corporate accounting experience, primarily for engineering companies. Dan has successfully led initiatives to improve company billing processes, implement new accounting software, develop billing strategies, and select and implement employee benefit plans.

Dan holds a B.S. in Accounting from Central Washington University.

Adam Wells

Adam brings over 20 years of experience in Engineering and Construction Project Management, Program Management, and General Management and Leadership for professional services organizations.  Before joining Anvil in December 2022, he led an organization that focused on leveraging digital technologies to drive improvement in the engineering and construction industries.

Adam holds an M.B.A. in Business Administration, Management and Operations from Saint Mary’s College of California and a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.

Derek Toffer

Vice President Business Development & Marketing

As Anvil’s Vice President Business Development & Marketing, Derek is responsible for growing Anvil’s client engagement and external relationships. He is an internal advocate for Anvil clients and helps identify solutions that Anvil is uniquely positioned to deliver on.

Derek brings over 27 years of experience in account management, sales, and business development for the energy industry. Before joining Anvil in 2018, he held senior business development and international management roles with Fluor.

Derek is a Control Systems engineer and holds a B.S. in Computer Science from California State University.

Michelle Hawkins

Human Resources Manager

As Human Resources Manager, Michelle manages the day-to-day operations of the HR department, as well as the administration of human resources policies, procedures, and programs. She works closely with management to develop effective strategies and processes for recruiting, performance management, and training and leadership programs.

Michelle brings years of HR experience with a broad understanding of management and general employment practices, including recruiting and selection, performance management, training and development, leave of absence, compensation, organizational development, and employee relations.

She holds a M. Ed. in Adult, Community, and Higher Education Administration from Montana State University and a B.A. in Communication from the University of Wyoming.

Chris Harrell

Controller

As Controller, Chris is responsible for the accurate and timely financial management of Anvil and managing the Accounting, Billing, and Payroll teams.

Chris brings over sixteen years of corporate accounting experience. Before joining Anvil in 2022, he held various accounting roles, including Accounting Manager, Business Analyst, and Assistant Controller. Chris has extensive experience in budgeting, forecasting, payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable, developing reporting standards, and managing teams.

He holds a B.A. in Business Administration with a double-major in Finance and Accounting from Western Washington University.

Vance Foster

Quality Manager

As Quality Manager, Vance maintains and improves Anvil’s Project Services Quality System (PSQS) by collaborating with all Resource Groups and Programs. He establishes and tracks annual goals and metrics to ensure we continue to meet our clients’ expectations and our own standards of quality and consistency.

Vance joined Anvil in 2014, serving various roles, including Project Manager, Project Engineer, and Piping Engineer for our Billings and Anchorage offices. In 2023, he became our Quality Manager.

He brings over 25 years of project management and mechanical engineering experience, including 15 years with direct responsibility for quality. Before joining Anvil, Vance held other various positions, including Production Manager, Quality Manager, and Operations Project Manager.

Vance holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Oregon State University. He is a Registered Professional Mechanical Engineer in Washington State.

Patrick Glicker

Technology Manager

As Anvil’s Technology Manager, Patrick is responsible for protecting Anvil’s network and leading a team to deliver technology solutions for Anvil and our clients.  He is an advocate for improving business processes by using the latest proven technologies.

Patrick brings over 15 years of process improvement experience. He has worked in several industrial and material processing industries. Before joining Anvil as a Project Manager, Patrick spent 6 years working for Bühler in various roles, including Field Engineer, Process Engineering Manager, and Business Development Associate.

Patrick holds an M.B.A. from Weatherhead’s School of Management at Case Western Reserve University and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Kettering University.

Jim Holien

VP Operations, Bellingham Branch

As VP Operations – Bellingham Branch, Jim is responsible for overseeing the daily branch business and operations performance. He works with Anvil’s senior management team to plan branch strategies, goals, and targets, and collaborates with Business Development, Program, Project, and Resource Managers to successfully execute these plans. In addition, Jim is also responsible for forging strong Anvil relationships with clients and the local community

Jim joined Anvil’s Project Controls department in 2000, eventually taking over as the Cascadia Program Manager before becoming VP Operations – Bellingham Branch in 2022. He brings extensive experience in all phases of the energy business, including program management, project management, project controls, engineering, and operations management.

Jim holds an MBA in Finance from California State University Hayward and a B.S. in Metallurgical & Materials Engineering from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.

Kyle Volf

VP Operations, Billings Branch

As the VP Operations – Billings Branch, Kyle is responsible for overseeing office activities, project execution, and managing our Mountain program. He works closely with Anvil’s senior management to identify company strategies, goals, and targets and then monitor progress toward meeting these goals.

Kyle entered the Oil & Gas industry in 2005 and has experience in Engineering and Project Management as a Process Engineer, Project Manager, Engineering Supervisor and Program Manager. Before joining Anvil, Kyle spent over 16 years working for BP on North Slope Facilities and ConocoPhillips on L48 Upstream Assets.

Kyle holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Montana State University and is a Registered Professional Engineer in Alaska, Texas and Montana.

Cheryl Ladouceur

VP Operations, Walnut Creek

As the VP Operations – Walnut Creek, Cheryl is responsible for managing the California branch and the Sierra Nevada Program.

Cheryl joins Anvil with 13 years of experience in Engineering, Project Management, Training & Development and people management in the energy industry. Cheryl spent over a decade in engineering consulting specializing in pipeline design, retrofits and asset knowledge management for utility operators nationwide. Most recently, Cheryl led an organization focused on advanced Nuclear Reactor technology aimed at providing an affordable, clean, and safe energy solution.

Cheryl holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from California Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo.

Kari MacDonald

VP Operations - Anchorage Branch

As the VP Operations – Anchorage, Kari is responsible for the Anchorage, Alaska office and the Northern Lights Program.

Kari has over 20 years of experience in driving operational success and delivering innovative solutions in the oil and gas sector. With a diverse background spanning recruiting, quality, risk management, and project management, Kari brings a comprehensive skill set to her leadership role. Her ability to draw on this broad experience enables her to address complex challenges and deliver well-rounded solutions across various facets of the business.

Kari holds a B.S. in Business with an emphasis in Project Management and holds a Project Management Certification (PMP.)

Jacob Browning

VP Operations - Salt Lake City

As the VP Operations – Salt Lake City Branch, Jacob is responsible for overseeing office activities, project execution, and managing our Chevron program. He works closely with Anvil’s senior management to identify company strategies, goals, and targets and then monitor progress toward meeting these goals.

Jacob brings nearly two decades of heavy industrial engineering experience on facility and mining projects. Recently he led and managed an international design team in designing and building infrastructure for a copper mine in the Salt Lake City area. He has experience in Engineering and Project Management as a Mechanical Engineer, Project Engineer, Engineering Supervisor and Director of Engineering. Jacob has experience leading international teams in South America, Asia, and Europe.

Jacob holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Utah and is a Registered Professional Engineer in Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Idaho, Nevada, and Utah.  He is also fluent in Spanish.

Gordon Lindell

Chairman of the Board

As Chairman of the Board, Gordy is responsible for guiding Anvil and ensuring we continually follow our Mission and Operating Principles. Gordy has served on Anvil’s Board of Directors since 2014 and became Chairman in 2022.

Gordy joined Anvil in 2003 and served as Anvil’s President from 2014 – July 2021. He has extensive experience in business and project management for oil refinery, oil production, co-generation, and pulp and paper facilities. Gordy has led Anvil’s growth into new regions and sectors,
including forming Redi Anvil in Lakewood, CO to further expand our upstream and midstream capabilities.

Gordy holds a B.S. in Construction Management from Louisiana State University.

Scott Anderson

Board Member

Scott has served on Anvil’s Board of Directors since 2008 as an Independent Director.

After an early career as an attorney, Scott joined McCaw Cellular (now part of AT&T) in 1986 and rose to Senior Vice President of Acquisitions and Development, a role he filled until departing in 1997. Since then, Scott has remained active in the communications and tech industries, investing in numerous early-stage companies and serving on several boards. He is currently President of Northeast Wireless Networks, a regional wireless provider, and serves on three other boards of directors (including one public-company board).

Scott holds a B.A. in History and a Law Degree from the University of Washington.

Bert Valdman

Board Member

Bertrand (Bert) has served on Anvil’s Board of Directors since 2022 as an Independent Director.

Bert is currently the President & CEO of NorthStar Energy, a leading provider of fuel options to communities from Alaska to Hawaii to California and throughout the Northwestern US and Northern Rockies. Prior to this role, he was the President & CEO of Optimum Energy, the leading provider of data-driven cooling and heating optimization solutions for enterprise facilities and the Senior Vice President of Strategic Planning at Edison International.

He brings over 35 years of experience in the energy industry in various roles, including Executive Vice President, COO, and CFO for Puget Sound Energy, and Managing Director for JP Morgan’s investment banking group in New York and Paris.

Bert also serves on the Board of Lakeside School and the Seattle Art Museum in Seattle and on the Board of portfolio companies of Oaktree Capital Management.

Bert holds a Ph.D.  in French Medieval studies from Stanford University and a B.A. in History from Northwestern University.

Emily Zanto

Internal Board Member, Project Manager

As a Project Manager, Emily is responsible for leading Anvil’s Mountain Process Program, simultaneously coordinating multiple projects and Process engineer workloads, and developing proposals, estimates, and schedules. She also promotes strong Anvil relationships with clients. Since joining Anvil’s Bellingham office in 2010, then transferring to the Billings office in 2012, Emily has worked as a Process Engineer until becoming a Work Group Lead in 2020.

Emily brings over 10 years of in-depth industry knowledge and expertise in all phases of refining projects—from design conception and definition to detailed design. Her experience spans optimizing and running refinery process units, participating in plant-wide turnarounds, project scope development, hydraulic analysis, refinery unit process hazard reviews (PHAs), and PSV sizing and evaluation. She joined Anvil’s Board of Directors in 2021.

Rob Farrow

Board Member

Rob joined Anvil’s Board of Directors in 2020.

Rob served as Anvil’s Chief Financial Officer from 2008-2019 where he was responsible for Anvil’s reporting, accounting, planning, financial analysis, treasury, and human resource services.

He brings over 32 years finance experience with 23 years in Chief Financial Officer roles in both small and large consumer products companies. Rob has successfully restructured and managed finance teams, managed debt restructurings, initiated and led strategic planning processes, and accomplished financial turnarounds. He has extensive experience in acquisitions and divestitures and has led audit functions as Director Internal Audit for a $5 billion company and as a client manager of a big-four public accounting firm.

Rob holds a B.A. in Business Administration from Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Canada. He was also a Chartered Accountant in Canada.

Diana Hoff

Board Member

Diana has served on Anvil’s Board of Directors since 2023 as an Independent Director.

She was most recently the Senior Vice President of Operations at Antero Resources, an independent oil and natural gas company engaged in the exploration, development, and production of natural gas and oil properties located in the Appalachian Basin. Prior to this role, she was co-founder and Chief Executive Officer for The Unconventional Group, providing consulting to international clients implementing unconventional oil and gas developments outside of North America. Diana was also the Vice President Technical, Engineering and Innovation for Santos, one of Australia’s biggest domestic gas suppliers and a leading LNG supplier in the Asia Pacific region.

Diana brings over 35 years of domestic and international operations, engineering, and management experience in the oil and gas industry, holding progressive roles from drilling foreman to engineering and management roles with Chevron, Basin Exploration, Amoco, Barrett Resources/Williams, and Questar/QEP. She has led upstream development and production operations and capital projects, including corporate level accountability for major projects and health, safety and environment (HSE).

Diana holds a B.S. degree in Petroleum Engineering from Marietta College (Ohio).16
